New Release: Forever Magazine

Issue VI: RELICS

“It was the [REDACTED] of times. It was the [REDACTED] of times.”

Today marks the debut of the latest issue of the revered, girl-coded literary mag Forever Magazine, exclusively on Metalabel.

Forever Magazine was co-created by Anika Jade Levy, Madeline Cash, and Nat Ruiz as a group project among friends in 2020, and has steadily grown in influence and acclaim since. Last year it was named one of the five up and coming literary projects by New York Magazine.

The newest issue, titled “Relics,” is a celebration of cherished physical objects. The edition’s thick, glossy pages feature contributions from dozens of contributors including Caroline Calloway, Blake Butler, Joshua Citarella, hundreds of images, and much more. It was printed in a limited edition run of 400 issues.

To celebrate the launch of Issue VI, Forever Magazine and Metalabel hosted a release party on leap day at 99C, Metalabel’s Chinatown NY HQ, featuring readings and performances from Blake Butler, Jack Nachmanovitch, and Geoff Rickly.

We love Forever first and foremost for how fun and insightful its contents always are. We also love how each issue is emblematic of Metalabel’s ethos of collective creation. While co-editors Anika and Madeline each have their own thriving writing careers  and Creative Director Nat Ruiz continues to pursue her own illustration and art directon practice, each Forever issue creates a shared vehicle for cultural influence, collaboration, and a physical object that captures a brief, beautiful, and chaotic moment in time.
