The Car Crash Anthology: Call for Submissions
Anthology + open call
Physical zine
In 2021, Brittany Menjivar was hit by two semi trucks in a car accident that left her inches from death. The first time she ever hung out with Erin Satterthwaite, she told her this story... and minutes later, Erin's car was totaled in a collision involving an Uber driver at a Hollywood intersection. Forever bonded by their trauma and their love of literature, they founded Car Crash Collective, a late-night literary reading series. Rowdy, fun, and unapologetically confessional, Car Crash Collective has emerged as the preeminent Los Angeles reading series (with stops also in New York, Berlin, and Boise).
In partnership with Metalabel, Car Crash Collective is set to release their first-ever print project, a highly anticipated anthology of writing on the destructive and generative potential of the car crash. The collection will feature many of the luminaries who have read in the series, and is open for submissions.
If you’re interested in submitting, please send work to carcrashla@gmail.com no later than September 30th. If you want to support the release, you can pre-order the anthology and learn more about the Car Crash Girl lore on Metalabel.
